First Presbyterian Church of Rockford has a long history in Rockford, IL. Our roots go back to 1854! We have been on a journey since that time. Our journey today is all about our past and our future. The frontier our founding brothers and sisters faced was in some ways very different -Indians still roamed Winnebago Country- and very much the same – we continue to be called to Love God, our neighbor and self.
In 2011 First Presbyterian Church decided to sell our church building. It was shocking to some; but to others, who know our history understand that this is the sixth building location for our congregation. The one constant – we have always been in the Downtown Rockford area. Our ministry continues to be vibrant as we seek to love God, our neighbors and self through our care of the earth, life, justice and health. We will continue to be First Presbyterian Church of Rockford, just in a new and different way.
We invite all who wish to journey into an unknown but exciting future to join us!
